What to expect

Sunday Services:

Our services are fairly traditional in style, but we believe that content is much more important than style.

Our services as focussed on God’s Word.
Our singing is from the Psalms (using both the traditional Scottish Psalter and the Free Church’s own modern versification of the Psalms, Sing Psalms in the English services and the Gaelic Psalter in traditional precenting (lining out) style for the Gaelic services).

We read from the New King James Version of the Holy Bible in the English services and from the standard Gaelic Bible during Gaelic services.  These readings are the basis for the biblical sermon that follows.  We believe that preaching is of the utmost importance but that it ought always to be shaped and directed by God’s Word so that preaching presents the Word of God and not the thoughts of men.

We believe that the ‘word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart,’ (Hebrews 4:12) and therefore the more we are exposed to God’s Word the better.

Midweek Meeting:

The midweek meeting bears a strong resemblence to the Sabbath services, but in addition to singing of psalms and exposition of God’s Word, men who profess faith in Christ are asked by the minister (or elder who may be leading in the minister’s absence) to lead in prayer during the meeting.
